Calling All Plein Air Painters!

Updated: Aug 13, 2023

Visual art will be part of the festival for the first time this year, and we’ll be offering three programs, including a plein air painting event, a music/spoken word/art performance and hands-on artmaking.

All plein air painters are welcome to come to Guilford during the week of the festival (September 17-24) and capture our beautiful scenery: the 16-acre downtown Green and the historic homes nearby, the harbor, the live festival performances or anything else that inspires them. A tent will be available for artists who register (and bring their easels) to display and sell their paintings.

There is no charge to participate, though donations of at least $10 to GreenStage are suggested to help defray the costs of the tent and the all-free festival. Artists are welcome to paint almost anywhere in town during the week of the festival, and work will be displayed for public viewing between 1 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 24. Any size and media is welcome. Artwork can be framed or unframed and can be priced for private sale, with all proceeds going to the artists.

Come join the fun! We expect a large number of painters, so it will a terrific gathering of artists and art lovers—especially on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (the 22nd through 24th), when downtown Guilford will be alive with live music, dance and drama!
