Catch the Oompa Possum Puppets!

Puppeteer Kimberly Van Aelst, creator of the Oompa Possum Puppets, will present a nature-themed puppet show at the festival that introduces young audience members to the animals that grace our local forests, skies and seas. The show begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 23.

Van Aelst will follow the performance with a backstage tour and stations where kids can make their own puppets. The show is geared primarily to children under the age of 8.

Van Aelst has been performing puppet shows for children and adults around the world for more than a decade. Her many honors include a Kennedy Center VSA Award and a Performance Award at the World Festival of Puppet Art in Prague. Her puppet film Lost & Found was screened at the 2012 World Festival of Puppet Art in Prague and at 92Y-Tribeca.
