The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) has awarded GreenStage a $1,350 grant for the 2025 Live Arts Festival. The funds will support a performance and workshop by Kotoko Brass, an eight-piece band that melds the complex traditional drumming of Central Ghana, the sturdy bass and keyboards of the Caribbean and the joyous horns of New Orleans.
Both events will take place on Saturday, August 16, on the Guilford Green. Kotoko’s drummers will lead Ghanaian drumming and dance workshops in the afternoon, while the full band will close out Saturday’s events with a main-stage performance of what the Boston Globe has described as “propulsive, infectious party music.”
Kotoko’s appearance at the festival is funded in part by NEFA’s New England States Touring program, itself made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies. This is the first grant GreenStage has received from NEFA.
