Letter to My Soul (Laura Thoma)

Guilford playwright Laura Thoma premieres this new play about two queer women who live in different countries and different times. A lonely queer artist, untethered from history and searching for purpose, connects with the lingering spirit of a forgotten sapphic writer—still corded to the world, seeking one last chance to protect the stories she once dared to tell. Bound by a longing for connection, moon magick and a shared companion, the women navigate the space between past and present. Anchoring in each other, they discover the parts of themselves needed to step into their next transformation. The play enables the audience to unpack evolving attitudes, beliefs, values and behaviors related to gender and sexual identity; it reveals the impact on individuals’ isolation, belonging and connection to the larger thread of human history, as well as on society at large.
