Letter to My Soul (Laura Thoma)

Guilford playwright Laura Thoma premieres her new play “Letter to My Soul.” A lonely queer artist, untethered from history and searching for purpose, connects with the lingering spirit of a forgotten sapphic writer—still corded to the world, seeking one last chance to protect the stories she once dared to tell. Bound by a longing for connection, moon magick and a shared feline companion, the women navigate the space between past and present. Anchoring in each other, they discover the parts of themselves needed to step into their next transformation. The playwright hopes this play will not only allow people to find themselves in “an othered person’s” story, but encourage it. Inviting audiences to explore the loneliness within themselves and question what it means to belong. Asking how does one find genuine connection? And what does it mean to be fully seen?
